- Mrs. Sarah Shane, 84, died at 2:30 p.m. at 521 Columbia Terr., where she had been making her
home with her daughter, Mrs. R.A. Bliss. Mrs. Shane had been ill about a year. A resident if
Peoria for ten years, Mrs. Shane was in Valley Township, Stark County, Sept. 16, 1871. She
was the daughter of William F. and Margaret Milchrist Speer, and a grandaughter of the man for
whom the village of Speer was named. She was the widow of David Shane, who died Jan. 1934.
They were married at Galva Jan 13, 1890 and resided in Dunlap-Princeville area before coning
to Peoria.
Surviving are one son, Sylvester Shane of Speer; three daughters, Mrs. Bliss, Mrs. C.W.
Applegren of Pekin and Mrs. Leland Sloan of Princeville, thirteen great grand children; eight
grandchildren.
One brother and one sister preceded her in death.
