OBIT: Waldo Leland Steele, 66, resident of Big Spring for 15 years, was found dead in his residence at 510 Lancaster around 7:30 p.m. Saturday. Justice of the Peace Jess Slaughter ruled death due to natural causes. Services are set for 2:00 p.m. Tuesday in the River-Welch Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in Trinity Memorial Park. Mr. Steele was born Sept. 10, 1903, in Wellston, OH, and lived for some years in Oklahoma before coming to Big Spring. He worked as a cook until his retirement in June 1969. Mr. Steele was a veteran of World War Two and a member of the Baptist Church. Survivors include three sons, Bob G. Steele, Austin, Don R. Steele, Dallas, W.L. Steele Jr., Tulsa, Okla.; two daughters, Mrs. Patsy Scott and Mrs. Mary Floyd, both of Oklahoma City; 22 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. (Big Spring Herald, Monday, March 2, 1970)
