Notes |
- Francis Marion is the son of John and Nancy (Gray) Hatfield. He was their oldest son and was born while they still lived in Tennessee. They moved to Independence Co. Arkansas in the 1850's. Stone Co. was carved out of Independence Co., and they were in Stone Co. Nancy died in the early 1860's and is buried there. John remarried to Ann Marchbanks and they moved to Texas in the late 1860's or early '70's. After Ann's death, John moved back to Polk Co. Arkansas and died in 1883 or 1884...(I am writing from memory and not looking at my records right now).
FM married Jemima in Little Rock about 1865. He was a Confederate soldier. They must have moved to Texas with the other Hatfields, but I don't find them on the census. I know they were in Montague Co. in the 1870's and moved to Oklahoma in 1879. They lived in Cleveland Co. area. I really don't have them on a true census until 1900. They are on the 1890 census of Oklahoma as there is a fragment of that state's census which survived.
