- OBITUARY:
Pro Football Hall of Famer and former Defensive Line Coach of the Denver Broncos for 18 years, passed away on May 21, 2010, in Broomfield, CO. Stan was born in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on November 24, 1931, to Naomi Justine Murray and Paul Jones. After 40 years in the NFL; 13 as a player and 27 as a coach, Stan retired to his home in Fraser, CO. Stan is preceded in death by his wife of 47 years Darlis and is survived by his daughter Sherrill, two sons Kevin (Klea) and Tony, and 5 grandchildren Tory, Taylor, Tanner, Alfredo, and Anthony, as well as several cousins. He was a wonderful husband, father, teacher, coach, friend and consummate storyteller...he will be missed by his family, lifelong friends and teammates. A celebration of Stan's life will be held with friends and family on Friday, June 4 at the National Western Stock Show Complex in Denver from 5pm to 9pm. Additional information:
Hall of Fame Professional Football Player in the NFL, playing for the Chicago Bears and Washington Redskins. He earned Pro-Bowl status from 1955-1961 and played for the Bears in the 1963 NFL Championship. After his football playing career, he was an assistant coach for the Denver Broncos, Buffalo Bills, Cleveland Browns and New England Patriots. In 1991 he was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
