- Robert Louis "Bob" Shane, 68, of 109 Kemmett, died at 5:05 p.m. Monday, Oct 16, 1995, at his home.
Born June 15, 1927, in Edelstein to Joseph J. and Florence Colgan Shane, he married Barbara Reed. He later married Mary Jane Ferrara. She died Oct. 12, 1995. One sister and two brothers also preceded him in death.
Surviving are one stepdaughter, Sallie Conlin of Galesburg; four stepsons, Donald, John and William Godsil, all of Galesburg, and James Godsil of Coralville, Iowa: two sons, Donald Reed Shane and Richard Dean Shane; one daughter, Teresa Lynn Greenstreet; three brothers, Leonard Shane and Edmund Shane, both of Wyoming, Ill., and Maurice Shane of Staten Island, N.Y.; five sisters, Mary McGarvey and Delores Donovan, both of Wyoming, Joan and Helen Sendelbach, both of Henry and Ann Donovan of Chillicothe; 22 stepgrandchildren; and 19 step-greatgrandchildren.
He was a World War II Navy veteran. He worked for the Burlington Northern Rairoad and also farmed in the Monmouth area. He was a chef in various Galesburg cafes, including the Sheraton Motel.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Hurds-Hendricks Funeral Home in Knoxville.The Rev. Milton Marquith will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before services at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Knoxville Cemetery, where military rites will be accorded by Haryy Philblad American LEgion Post 749 in Knoxville.
Memorials amy be made to East Galesburg Community Chapel.
