203	An 82-year-old woamn was fatally injured about 5:30 p.m. yesterday when she walked into the path of a car on Rt. 29 at the Mossville blacktop road intersection. Dead on arrival at Methodist Hospital was Lillie B. Shane of Mossville. Cornoner Horace Payton said the elderly woman was crossing Rt. 29 from the west to the east side when she was struck by a northbound auto driven by Thomas E. Walker, 58, of Moline. Payton said the woman waited on the center median while one northbound auto passed, then stepped into the path of the Walker car. Walker and his wife, Rose, said they did not see the woman until she was in the path of their car. She was wearing a dark coat and had a shawl on her head. The Walkers said they were on their way to visit their son, Bob J. Walker, who lives on Wayne Road, north of Mossville. County policement, who, along with Payton, investigated the accident, said it is not known where the woman had been. Payton said this death brings the number of Peoria County fatalities this year to 70, as compared to 61 all of last year. Services will be announced by Weber Funeral Home in Chillicothe. (Nov 26 1967) Services for Mrs. Lillie Brodhead Shane, 82, of 405 State St., Mossville, who died Saturday after being struck by a car on Rt. 29 at Mossvillle, will be at 2 p.m. tomorrow at Weber Funeral Home, Chillicothe. The Rev. Robert Mushrush will officiate. Burial will be in Prospect Cemetery, Dunlap. Visitation will be to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. She was born Sept 9, 1885 at Newton, Kan., the daughter of John and Cecilia Zortman Brodhead. She married Charles Shane at Slaton, Minn., and he preceded her in death. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Martha Secrest of Santa Barbara, Ca.; five sons, E.M. and Andrew Shane, both of Mossville, William of Homewood, Neal of Riverside, Calif., and Norris of Valley Forge, Pa.; 24 grandchildren; one brother, Lawrence Weston of Danville; and one sister, Mrs. Helen Williamson of Topeka, Kan. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, and three sons, in addition to her husband. She was a member of the Mossville Mothers' Club and Chillicothe Gold Mothers Club. 204	An Aged Pilgrim Gone Death Friday of Mrs. H.V. Andres Passed Peacefully Away at Her Home Two and One Half Miles Northwest of Canton At a ripe old age, with a life record full of virtue, and beautiful upon all its pages, Mrs. Sarah Ellen, belived wife of Deacon H.V. Andrews, died this morning at four o'clock at her home, two and one-half miles northwest of Canton. It was a happy and peaceful passing away of an eged pilgrim, who as a pioneer wife and mother had in a most gracious manner measured up to the fond ideals of many loving hearts and left the impress of her goodly influence all along the way to life's eveing time. For 56 years, through all kinds of weather, through shadown and sunshine -- Mrs. Andres, as a model wife, stood by the side of her husband, now venerable in years. His trials were her trials; his sorrows her sorrows; his joys her joys; and his victories and triumphs her vistories and triumphs. In the morning time of their union, at its noon and evening, all along the way of life, they were lovers. Their hearts were linked together for the pilgrimage, and as each year entered in to their lives there also entered an increased love and devotion. Each with bliss filled the other's life. Each was the other's keeper, and as the years passed with them they found the stream of love the while growing deeper. Now one has entered the haven of rest, leaving the other to watch a little while longer for the coming of the reaper, but in the very nature of things the severance of the union will not be long extended. As the wife of the oldest pioneer settler of Fulton County Mrs. Andrews was in all respects a faithful and herois spirit, and to all who came in contact with her she was an inspiration of courage. While her life was one of christian faith it was also one christian living. While as a pioneer wife and mother she had in her heart the angel of inspiring faith she also tnertained as a royal guest the angel of charity. With a loving heart she did many loving deeds, and rendered loving service to many waery and needy souls. In her going and coming among her neighbors and friends she carried with her much of sunshine and sheer. Her ears were inclined to every voice of grief and when the call for charity was heard her warm and mother heart never for a moment to doubt, but the cry was promptly heeded. To do was a great part of her religion. Kindness and the aid of a helping hand was her heart creed. Sarah Ellen Shane was born march 25, 1820 in berkeley County, West Virginia, and was one of a family of eleven children. In 1836, she wither her parents, moved to Fort Clark, now Peoria. After a few years residence at that place the family moved to near where Brimfield now stands. She first met Henry V. Andrews in Peoria, she being at that time an inmate of the house of his sister, Mrs. Irene Fulton, and he being employed at the time as superintendant of the construction gang engaged in building what is now known as the Iowa Central Railroad. They were united in matrimony at Brimfield, February 25, 1840 and located near Princeville, where they lived one year, then moved to near Canton and settled on a farm owned by D.W. Barnes, a brother-in-law of Mr. Andrews. Part of the old log house in which they lived is still standing. Soon after moving to this vicinity Mrs. Andrews joined the Baptist Church, and during all these years up to the time of her departure from earth she was a devoted Christian woman, practicing her faith by kindly and generous work as the Prince of the House of David had taught. Ten children were born to them as follows: Herve L. Andrews, of Peoria; Mrs. Elizabeth Randolph, of this township; Kate who died in 1867; Mrs. Irene McKinney, of Morris, who died in 1893; David, who died in infancy; George B. and Abner, who reside in Canton; Frank and Corwin H., living northwest of Canton, and Mrs. Sadie Kruse, of Chicago. During the last thriteen years Mrs. Andrews had been in poor health but her strong constitution did not readily yield. ABout ten days ago, following a prolonged struggle, she became seriously ill, and to her friends it became apparent that the end was near at hand. Her devoted husband kept constnatly at her bedside and with a love that was beautiful to contemplate clung to her until her gentle spirit passed from home to home, administering as best he could in his feebleness to her every want. In grief the venerable man now bows his head. The loss to him is heavy. It one that has created a void that cannot be filled this side of the paradise of God. But the time for a reunited glory cometh and no doubt the aged pilgrim, left alone along the journey, in his faith that takes a hold of the kingdon can see the opening light from beyond the silver lining. The funeral will take place Sunday afternoon at 1:30 from the old homestead, teh Rev. Dr. Clatworthy, assisted by the Rev. mathes officiating. The interment will be at Greenwood. 206	Andre Bergeon was bron in 1643 to Pierre Bergeron and Catherine Marchand. They came from Saint Saturnin-du-bois. He engaged as a servant in Lauzon on the farm of Eustache Lambert. He eventually became a proprietor of a concession in Lauzon. As of 1909, there are still descendants occupying the ancestral farm. One of them had his name inscribed in the Golden Book as a rural lord. Andre married on 9 July 1673 to Marguerite Dumay dit Dumets. 207	Andrew Daniel Shane, 94, of 1806 E. Mossville Rd died at 4:55 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 5, 1997, at his residence. Born Dec. 2, 1902 to Charles and Abigail Neal Shane, he married Esther M. Bennett in 1926. She died in 1942. He married Velda I. Pease in 1943 in Peoria. She survives. Also surviving are five daughters, Gladys Beals of Peoria, Virginia Nyman and Charlotte Bowman, both of Sacramento, Calif., Martha Dutton of Garden Grove, Calif., and Wilma Allendale of Rio Linda, Calif.; one son, John of Lady Lake, Fla.; 20 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; one brother, Jack Rouse of Highland, Calif.; and one sister, Lou Baskin of Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by one son, Andrew Shane, seven brothers and two sisters. He worked on the assembly line at Caterpillar for 19nyears. He later was owner-operator of Shane Auto parts. He was an Army Veteran. He was a member of the Knoxville Avenue Seventh Day Adventist Church, where memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday. The Rev. Jay Baker will officiate. Cremation will be accorded. Wilton Mortuary is in cahrge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to his church. 1925 Iowa census-Andrew was a boarder with the Neville family near Martha, his sister. 208	Antoine Brassard was born in 1609 and became a Mason. He married Francoise Mery who was born in 1613. Antoine died on 11 July 1671 and lived in a place that had been known as Grande Alle, this is now known as St Louis Street in Quebec. They were married at Quebec on 14 Jan 1637. Antoine is the ancestor of the Brassard and Descenaux families. The following is an article on the Brassard name written by Ted Brassard for The Genealogist 1982. "To the best of my knowledge, at the present time, with one exception all families bearing the surname Brassard in the United States and Canada are descended from Antoine Brassard. The single exception is my own family line in which the male ascendancy leads to the Pilote family due to a name change. The female ascendancy of this line leads back to Antoine Brassard. It is believed by some genealogists that he migrated from Normandy, but at the time of his marriage his place of origin was not stated. It is doubtful we will ever know where he came from in France. We do know that Antoine was a Mason or a stone worker and was born about 1609. At Quebec he married a woman name Francoise Mery and together they raised a family. Francoise gave birth to ten children and eight are known to have survived. Francoise was born in 1621 and died 11 July 1671. Little is known about her before she married Antoine, but it is said she lived in her house in a place called Grand Alle, Quebec. This place today is St. Louis Street, Quebec. Antoine is the ancestor of the Brassard and Deschenaux families. Many genealogists, authors and others have been confused between the names Brassard, Brossard and Broussard. It is easy to do because of the close similarities in spelling, pronunciation. Tnaguay, for example, lists as Brassard those Acadians whose surnames is Brousard. Edward Richer, in his two volume series, Acadia, uses Brassard for Broussard and Bona Arsenault uses both Brossard and Broussard. Research on the Brossard family discloses it can be traced to two principle sources. The first originated from Isaac Urbain Brossard who married Urbaine Hodiau in 1660 at Montreal. He was born in France in 1634 and was the son of Mathurin and Maichelle Bidault. The second was established in Little France, Oswego County, New York by John Baptiste Vital Brossard who migrated from Switzerland with his family in early 1834. He was born 19 Nov 1787 in Switzerland near the French border. As I have stated previously, the family of Broussard is listed in various sources with all three spelling variations. However, the family name can be traced back to Jean Francois Broussard of Acadia who married Catherine Richard about 1681 at Port Royal. Catherine was the daughter of Michel and Madeleine Blanchard. Jean Francois Broussard was born in 1654. His descendents, using his surname, can be founf throughout the Southern States. One other name should be mentioned which I have been informed about recently. This is the name Brassor. It is not another family line but a name change from Brassard. If you speak French, the reason for the name change is obvious. In the French language the final consonant of Brassard is not pronounced, thus, the new name is spelled like the sound of the original. This name has been traced back to Brassard families in Northern New England, but I'm sure it will eventually trace to Antoine."	Brassard, Antoine (I629)

Then Art became a milkman and delivered milk to the "South-Side" of Huntington, WV for many years, approx. 1929 to 1957. He worked for Guyan Creamery, Sunrise Creamery, and Kennedy Dairy, which later became Borden's Dairy. He worked in-plant at Borden's approx. 1957 to 1959 when he could no longer walk a milk route and he retired from Bordens's when his arthritic knees became to painful to enable him to work.
