    Osmund Shane, 81, former resident of the Edelstein community, passed away in Independence, Iowa, USA, Saturday.
    The oldest son of James and Martha Nelson Shane, Mr. Shane was born near Edelstein, Oct. 22, 1861. His early life was spent in Illinos and in April 1884 he was united in marriage to Mary Peterson.
    Two children survive - Oliver Shane of Tyranga, California, and Mr.s John Smith of waterloo, Iowa. Three sons and his wife preceded him in death. Brothers and sisters surviving are: Ben Shane of Pipestone, Minn., Joe Shane of Wyoming, Ensley Shane of Oklahoma, Gene Shane of Chillicothe, Anna Brooks of Currey, Minn. together with ten grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
    Memorial services were held at the Trethway Funeral Home Monday afternoon in charge of Rev. Charles Smith. Interment was in the Prospect Cemetery at Dunlap.

    Notes:

    The Edelstein community was thrown into grief early last Sunday evening when it became known that death had taken one of its most loved residents, Miss mary Shane, from its midst with appalling suddenness. It was known that Miss Shane was in a precarious state of health, as she had been near death from a severe attack of acute indigestion two weeks previous, but it was hoped she would soon recover. She was able to attend the Edelstein homecoming a week following this illness and had attended the anniversary reception for Mr. and Mrs. John Vars Sunday. She was seemingly as well as usual when she had left for home in the late afternoon, turing to wave and say, "goodbye, everybody," as she went out the door only to be striken with a heart attack almost immediately upon arriving home, and passed away within a few minutes.
    "Matties," as she was familiarly known, was a vlaued member of the household of her niece, Mrs. Oscar Hensel, and family who live a short north pf Edelstein, and was dearly loved by the Hensel children, martha Ann and John, and showered them with devoted care in return. To this family the deepest sympathy of the community is extended.
    While Miss Shane will be greatly missed in the home, her death is leaving a place in the Edelstein Congregational Church circle that only her memory can fill. She was an earnest and willing worker, capable in any office given her, and her true Christian spirit and love for her bible made her an inspiration to others. She held the office of president of the ladies Aid Society of that church for several years and was chaplain of the society at her death. She had also been a beloved superintendent of the church school the past five years and teacher of the bible class. It was there her greatest work was done, as it was her one ambition to make the church school one of the best, and only serious illness prevented her regular attendance. She was looking forward to resuming her duties next Sunday.
    Two days before her death she observed her 55th birthday anniversary and was remembered with cards of greeting from members of the school, for which a card of appreciation from her was read at the session last Sunday morning.
    Miss Shane was the youngest daughter of the late james and MArtha Shane and spent her entire kife in the Hallock Township except a few years she and her mother lived in Chillicothe following the death of her father.
    Upon the death of her mother she came to make her home with a niece, who had been reared in her grandparents home from a small child when her own mother, Mrs. Lydia Shane Potter, died.
    Miss Shane leaves one sister, Mrs. Anna Brooks of Currie, Minn.; six brothers, David of Lawn Ridge, Charles of Mossville, Ben of Pipestone, Minn.; Joseph of Dunlap, Eugene of Chillicothe, and Ensley. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and more distant relatives and a multitude of friends.
    Funeral services were held in the church she loved Wednesday afternoon and she was laid to rest beside her parents in Prospect Cemetery near Dunlap.

    Funeral services for Joseph J. Shane of Wyoming, 80, were held in St. Dominic's Catholic Church in Wyoming at 10 a.m. Saturday with Rev. bernard Dempsey officiating. Pallbearers were Gerald Shane, John Shane, Roger Donovan, Danny Donovan, Kenneth Mcgarvey, Garland Shane, Terry Shane and larry Shane.
    Mr. Shane died Thursday morning, February 15, 1962, in St. Francis hospital in Peoria, after a long illness.
    A son of James and Martha Nelson Shane, he was born in Peoria County October 23, 1881. He was united in marriage to Florence COlgan in Wyoming April 10, 1912.
    He is survived by his widow; six daughters, Mrs. Kenneth mcgarvey of Castleton, Mrs. Charles Donovan of Wyoming, Mrs. Leonard Sendelbach of Henry, Mrs. Louis Track of Tonica, Mrs. Clarence Sendelbach of Henry, and Mrs. Thomas Donovan of Chillicothe; five sons, Nelson of Chillicothe, Maurice of Staten Island, N.Y., and Leonard, Edmund and Robert, all of Wyoming; 71 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Anna Brooks of Slayton, Minn.
    He was preceded in death by one son, two sisters, and seven brothers.
    The rosary was recited in the Cox Memorial Home in Wyoming Friday night.

    Born in Speer, Ill, he was the son of the late Charles H. and Abigail Neal Shane.
    He was a retired farmer.
    He was a graduate of the University of Minnesota School of Agriculture.
    He was a member of the Manor Church of the Brethren.
    He was a member of the B.P.O.E. Elks No. 378 of Hagerstown.
    He is survived by his wife, Alice Jones Shane; three daughters, Joan Kay Mackenzie of Frederick, Sarah Ellen Warner of Silver Spring, Md., and Elizabeth Ann Malloy of San Antonio, Tx.; three sons, Norris D. Shane of San Antonio, Alan R. Shane of Williamsport, and Philip O. Shane of Mt. Airy, Md.; 21 grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.
    Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Manor Church of the Brethren in Tilghmanton. The Rev. Royal H. Vanderveer will officiate. Burial will be private.
    The family requests the omission of flowers. Memorial donations can be made to Norris and Alice Shane Fund, c/o Manor Church of the Brethren.

    He worked on the assembly line at Caterpillar for 19nyears. He later was owner-operator of Shane Auto parts.
    He was an Army Veteran.
    He was a member of the Knoxville Avenue Seventh Day Adventist Church, where memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday. The Rev. Jay Baker will officiate. Cremation will be accorded. Wilton Mortuary is in cahrge of arrangements.

    He also was a member of St. Edward's Catholic Church in Chillicothe, its Finance Committee and Men's Club.

    Born Dec. 31, 1914, in Rome to Joseph and Florence Colgan Shane, he married Thelma L. Sears on Aug. 5, 1939 in Camp Grove. She survives.
    Also surviving are eight sons, Paul J. of East Stroudsburg, Pa., Gerald E. of Dunlap, John D> of Adrian, Mich., William E. of Princeville., Philip L. of Hudson, Mark D. of varna, Gregory M. of Henry and Timothy S. of Wyoming; four daughters, M. Jane Bradford and Celestine L. "Sally" Gramlich, both of Peoria, Margaret L. Gibbs of Princeville and Susan C. Knoblauch of Metamora; two brothers, Maurice of Staten Island, N.Y., and Edmund of Wyoming; five sisters, Mary McGarvey and Delores Donovan, both of Wyoming, Joan Sendelbach and Helen Sendelbach, both of Henry and Ann Donovan of Chillicothe; and 37 grandchildren. Four children, including Patrick J. in 1981; one sister; three brothers; and two great grandchildren preceded him in death.
    A member of Stark County Farm Bureau and Stark County Pork Producers, he farmed southwest of Wyoming before retiring. He was named Farmer of the Year in 1963.
    He was a member of St. Dominic's Catholic Church in Wyoming, where services will be at 10 a.m. Friday. The Rev. Tom Brajkovich will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Wyoming Funeral Home, with recitation of the rosary at 8 p.m. Burial will be in St. Dominic's Cemetery.

    Wyoming- Margaret D. “Delores” Donovan, 99, of Chillicothe, formerly of Wyoming, passed away at 3:25 p.m. on Tuesday, June 23, 2020 at Evergreen Senior Living in Chillicothe.

    Delores was born on October 13, 1920 in Stark County, the daughter of Joseph and Florence (Colgan) Shane. She married Charles O. Donovan on August 16, 1941 in Wyoming at St. Dominic Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on October 10, 1990.

    Surviving are four sons, Charles “Roger” (Sandra) Donovan of LasCruces, New Mexico, USA, Dennis (Kathy) Donovan of Cornell, Jeff (Linda) Donovan of Wyoming, and Kevin (Crystal) Donovan of Wyoming; one daughter, Jeanne (Steve) Foffel of Toulon; 20 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Daniel Donovan and one daughter, Donna Hulsey.

    Margaret was a long-time member of St. Dominic Catholic Church in Wyoming and was a member of their altar and rosary society. She worked as a cook for the Wyoming school district and loved gardening.

    Her funeral mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 26, 2020 at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Wyoming. Face masks and social distancing are encouraged. Fr. John Cyr will officiate. Burial will be in St. Dominic Catholic Cemetery. Haskell Funeral & Cremation Services in Wyoming is in charge of arrangements.

    She was born Dec. 2, 1921, in Wyoming, Ill., the daughter of Joseph and Florence Colgan Shane. She married Leonard C. Sendelbach on May 1, 1941, in Henry. They farmed just west of Henry for many years. He died Aug. 15, 1990.

    Surviving are three children, Carol (Jim) White of Geneva, Virginia (Dave) Gill of Peoria and James (Carolyn) Sendelbach of Henry; one brother, Edmund (Ardis) Shane of Wyoming; and three sisters, Delores Donovan of Wyoming, Ann Budisalich of Chillicothe and Helen Sendelbach of Henry. She has five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

    She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers and two sisters.

    Joan was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Henry and was a member of the St. Mary's Altar and Rosary Society and the Daughters of Isabella.

    She loved flowers and always surrounded her home with beautiful geraniums in the spring and summer.

    She was a very generous person and enjoyed visiting with friends, neighbors and family.

    Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Hurds-Hendricks Funeral Home in Knoxville.The Rev. Milton Marquith will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before services at the funeral home.
