    Norris C. Shane, 87, of Rt. 2, Sharpsburg, Md., died Monday at his home.
    Born in Speer, Ill, he was the son of the late Charles H. and Abigail Neal Shane.
    He was a retired farmer.
    He was a graduate of the University of Minnesota School of Agriculture.
    He was a member of the Manor Church of the Brethren.
    He was a member of the B.P.O.E. Elks No. 378 of Hagerstown.
    He is survived by his wife, Alice Jones Shane; three daughters, Joan Kay Mackenzie of Frederick, Sarah Ellen Warner of Silver Spring, Md., and Elizabeth Ann Malloy of San Antonio, Tx.; three sons, Norris D. Shane of San Antonio, Alan R. Shane of Williamsport, and Philip O. Shane of Mt. Airy, Md.; 21 grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.
    Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Manor Church of the Brethren in Tilghmanton. The Rev. Royal H. Vanderveer will officiate. Burial will be private.
    The family requests the omission of flowers. Memorial donations can be made to Norris and Alice Shane Fund, c/o Manor Church of the Brethren.
    Arrangements are being handled by the Brown Funeral Home in Martinsburg, W.Va.

    Alice Louise Shane, 86, of Sharpsburg, died Thursday, Oct. 5, in Reeder Memorial Home in Boonsboro.
    Born in Altoona, Pa.; she was the daughter of the late Charles and Clara Alice Parker Jones.
    Her husband, Norris C. Shane died in 1985. A son, Robert Shane, also preceded her in death.
    She was a member of Manor Church of the Brethren in Boonsboro.
    She was also a member of the Ladies Elks in Hagerstown and the Southeastern Washington County Senior Citizens.
    She is survived by three daughters, Joan Kay macKenzie of hagerstown, Sarah Ellen Warner of Silver Spring, Md., and Elizabeth A. Malloy of San Antonio, Tx.; three sons, Norris D. Shane of San Antonio, Alan R. Shane of Williamsport, and Philip O. Shane of Mt. Airy, Md.; 21 grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren.
    A memorial service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Sunday Oct. 15 at Manor Church of the Brethren. The Rev. Loyal H. Vanderveer will officiate. Burial will be private.

    The reason Abigail left Charles was shrouded in mystery for years. However, I
    have been told by Andrew Shane's daughters that Charles' brother William lived
    with them for a time and this caused the couple some trouble.
    Her obit states she moved to West Texas in 1905 and moved to Union Gap, WA in 1929.

    A funeral service for Abbie Gale Jones, 97, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel S. Neal of Mossville, Ill who died Nov, 27-72. In the Wast Yakima Wash. Community Hospital was held Friday Dec 1. 72 10 a.m. in the Garden Chapel of the Langevin Mussetter Funeral Home Yakima, Wash.
    She was buried in the West Hills Memorial Park Cemetery.
    Mrs. Jones moved from the Neal farm where the Caterpillar Plant is now located North of Mossville. Winter of 1905 she moved to Texas. 1929 moved to 402 West Ahtanum Road Union Gap Washington.
    She was a Member Order Eastern Star.
    A half brother Arthur Neal preceded her in death and one son Harlan Rouse md Gladys (married Stewart Jackson) son Charley Rouse in Leander, TX (principal of HS in Leander) age 51 San Antonio Texas.
    Mrs. Jones is survived by husband J.M. Jones and five sons and three daughters:

She was 55 in 1930, making her birth year 1875. She would have been married in 1891 to Charles Henry Shane. Address was 316 S. Hackberry.

    CHARLES A. JONES

    Charles A. Jones, 216 Atlantic Avenue, East End, a salesman for the Russell Manufacturing Company, New York, died at his home at 1:10 a.m. yesterday of complications.
    He was born at Millerstown, September 14, 1880, a son of William W. and Louise Jones.
    Surviving are his father, in this city; his wife Cora [Clara] Parker Jones; one son Robert at home; one daughter, Mrs. Norris Shane, Alexandria, one brother, Jerry, of this city and two grandchildren.
    He was a member of the Salem Reformed church, having served as president of the church consistory several times, a member of the Junior Mechanics, No 570 and the Altoona Lodge No 102, Benevolent Order of Elks.
    Funeral Services will be conducted at the home at 2:30 p.m. tomorrow in charge of the Rev. V.H. Jones, Wayneboro. Burial will be made in Alexandria.

    MRS. CLARA ALICE JONES

    Of Alexandria died at 11:35 p.m. in the J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon, after an extended illness. She was born in Altoona Feb. 28, 1881, a daughter of David E. and Alice (Miller) Parker, and was married to Charles A. Jones at Derry June 11, 1902. Mr. Jones died May 8, 1928. Surviving are two children, Mrs. Morris [Norris] Shane of Ijamsville, Md., and Robert A. of Altoona; 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and one sister, Miss Dora of Alexandria. She was a member of the Alexandria Presbyterian Church, Ever Ready Bible Class, W.E. Stewart Missionary Society, Hartslog Valley Grange, Huntingdon County Pomona Grange and the D. of A. of Altoona. Mrs. Jones was valedictorian of the 1900 class of the Altoona High School. Friends will be received at the Cove Funeral Home, Alexandria, after 2:30 p.m. tomorrow.

    Orpha had another man in her life who she wanted to marry, but her parents made her marry John LePage. The other man became quite prosperous.
    He was a lumber jack and after they moved to the upper areas of Wisconsin and Michigan and southern Canada, where he worked in the sawmills and as a lumber jack.
    Orpha self-taught herself arithmetic and was able to start a small store where she sold fresh-baked goods and other items to the men in the camps.
    Family lore is John hated the fact she was doing so well, and was abusive until she threatened him with a knife.
    Orpha had a horse named Nelliw who always knew when Orpha was pregnant.
    Orpha and a neighbor woman would race their horses and wagons down the road but when she was pregnant, Nellie wouldn't run.
    Every other year, the women delivered each other's babies.
